Cyclist Comfort Index – Because Not Every Ride Should Feel Like a Stage in the Tour
A quick-glance score of riding comfort across Australia — from 0 (easy spin to the café) to 120+ (what did I do to deserve this?).
The Cyclist Comfort Index blends the big five ride-wreckers — temperature, apparent temperature, wind speed, rainfall rate, and extreme weather — into one brutally honest number. Low scores mean you can enjoy the scenery. High scores mean you’ll be enjoying the scenery… from the safety of your couch.
How to Read the Numbers:
- ✅ 0–50 – Golden conditions. Smooth tarmac, friendly winds, and no excuse not to ride.
- ✅ 50–100 – Manageable but might involve muttering under your breath. Expect a headwind, a chill, or a sweaty climb.
- ✅ Also works for tennis, cricket, or any other sport where the wind isn’t your mortal enemy.
- ⚠ 100+ – Soggy socks, heatstroke, or a wind strong enough to make you question life choices.
- ❌ Does not account for UV, traffic, magpies, or your mate who says “just one more hill”.
