Understanding the frost index

The 0–100 scale is a normalised, criteria-based risk index. Higher values indicate conditions more favourable for frost; a score of 80 does not mean an 80% probability.

Temperature fields are terrain-corrected using a digital elevation model with finer resolution than the underlying GFS terrain. This does not resolve every local frost pocket or guarantee conditions at an individual property.
