Understanding the frost index

The 0–100 scale is a normalised, criteria-based risk index. Higher values indicate conditions more favourable for frost; a score of 80 does not mean an 80% probability.

Temperature fields are terrain-corrected using a digital elevation model with finer resolution than the underlying model terrain. This does not resolve every local frost pocket or guarantee conditions at an individual property.

Read the valid date and local time printed on each map. The gallery labels show forecast lead hours, not clock times. Playback follows every available frame for the selected model, including those hidden by the gallery filter.
