Tasmania Snow Forecast Maps

Each row compares four alpine forecast products for the same forecast lead time. Snow settling level shows the elevation above which temperatures are cold enough for snow to fall and settle. Snow cover combines the settling level with terrain height to show the areas high enough for settling snow. Cold outbreak maps highlight where selected 850 hPa temperature, 500 hPa temperature and 1000–500 hPa thickness conditions overlap. The final panel shows cumulative modelled snow depth at 1000 m.
