Tasmanian Cold Outbreak (‘snap’) Maps

These forecast maps track the forecast for ‘Cold Outbreaks’ over Tasmania using criteria defined by the Bureau of Meteorology.

COL = Cold Outbreak (~snow to 600m)
COLL = Cold Outbreak with Snow to Low Levels (~snow to 300m)
COLD = Very Cold and likely sea level snow.

The maps are also coded for heavy snowfall (heavy precip) and strong winds (Blizzard). The maps cover the 10 day forecast window and appear in 3-hourly intervals.
